Work of 6/14 - 6/26
Before our July 4th break, we have had two weeks to help do work around the mission center. Even though we got the new trailer in for St. Charles Borromeo, there has still been plenty to do there. About half our time has been spent there, making the space homier, over just being livable. Even the upper trailer had some small jobs. As many of us are aware, there’s always work to be done maintaining buildings.
In addition to trailer work, we have had plenty of other small jobs to take up our time. A particularly joyous moment was spending a morning working with Ms. Linda, an elderly member of Jeremy’s church, who needed help moving into her apartment. Not only did we move her in, we spent time chatting with her and doing what we could to make her feel comfortable, cleaning her sofa chair, getting new lightbulbs, and fixing her bed frame. She could not have been more kind to us.
Although Dominick was at a wedding, on the 14th, Sebastian, CJ, and I got the chance to serve the Confirmation Mass for a couple of the St. Jude Parishioners. It was also the Mass for the Installation of Fr. Livinus Uba as Pastor of St. Jude. The church was packed with friends and family of the Judes (the two boys getting Confirmed shared a last name with the parish, funnily enough) and Fr. Uba, and it was followed by a wonderful reception, full of laughs and delicious food.

Over all, it has been a great couple weeks, but the four of us interns are looking forward to being home for July 4th for the next week. So, “Until we meet again, may you always go with God.”
