The mission of the Father Beiting Appalachian Mission Center (FBAMC), located in central Appalachia, in one of the most rural areas of the Appalachian Mountains, is to bring the love of Jesus Christ to those families in need of assistance in Appalachia. Your mission experience is a spiritual journey led by God and will include daily Mass and weekly adoration to aid you in keeping your focus on God and His plan for your journey. One of our recent volunteers described her experience as “the most authentic service mission that I have been involved in”.
The primary focus at the Mission is home repair for low-income families. We strive to assist families that need safe and secure housing. Shelter is a basic need for all people, and we are blessed because we CAN and DO improve families’ living conditions. Those improvements could be a ramp for someone who is in a wheelchair, new floor and/or windows, drywall, bathroom repair, underpinning, and many other repairs that YOU as a volunteer can do with a little training and some tools!
We are also blessed to provide many families with clothing, food, school supplies, and Christmas gifts by working with our donors and other local service organizations in the area.
FBAMC has a volunteer opportunity to fit YOU and your unique group. Summer season is for groups that can work for a week at a time, while Spring, Fall, and Winter seasons are flexible and can be for long weekends or short weeks!
