Home Repair
Each year, FBAMC welcomes volunteer groups from around the US who donate thousands of hours conducting home repairs in Appalachia. We are able to house up to 30 volunteers a week who work in Eastern Kentucky and parts of West Virginia making homes safer and cleaner for families in need.
Outreach
FBAMC partners with several other organizations in our communities to help address the various needs of other organizations, schools, and families.
Some of these outreach efforts can include providing transportation to homeless shelters, a tank of gasoline to assist a family who must drive every day for cancer treatments, gift cards for families that lost food during a week-long power outage, repair of a local food bank delivery truck, or helping a senior citizen complete the paperwork to apply to become a resident in low-income housing because their home is beyond repair.
There are so many unique situations that arise daily that FBAMC makes a family’s day just a little brighter and the burden just a little lighter.
Christmas Gift/Food Distribution
Through the very generous gifts of our donors, we distribute Christmas gifts to several hundred children in both eastern Kentucky and West Virginia. We work with the schools in Lawrence and Martin Counties as well as other outreach organizations to ensure that all children in our communities have gifts to open on Christmas Day.
Not only do the schools receive toys for the children, but also gloves, scarves, boots, and other clothing items.
We are blessed to be able to aid the local food bank to fill up their Christmas baskets with enough food for a Christmas feast!
We also remember our senior citizens during this time and take them lap blankets that have been donated as well as socks!
Brinker’s Closet
As of 2021, Brinker’s Closet has been serving those who have lost their homes in a disaster or for other reasons need assistance setting up a household. We provide bed linens, towels, personal toiletries, basic cooking items, pillows, and more to help those that need assistance as they begin rebuilding their lives.
